The Cycle of Life and Festivals

Just finished formal celebrations of Christmas 2009 and New Year 2010. As always the month of December brings great expectations of festivities, wine, cake, gifts, Christmas Tree and Stars, Carols. And as always the 'waiting' is more enjoyable than the actual arrival of Christmas and New Year. And then....once the dates, 25th December and 1st January are over, one goes around nursing a bit of regret that it is all over and will return only after a long time.
Today is 1st January 2010 and I am already a wee bit sad that the celebrations are almost over. This has also been the first Christmas and New Year without my Amma around, as she said good bye to this world on 27th September 2009. Now that my parents and their contemporaries are all gone, I feel I am in the front line of Life's battle without 'Parent-Soldgiers' providing 'cover' from the sharpnels of daily living. Now it is time to concentrate on my children and provide bullet-proof cover for them from the front by way moral support, and so on. The cycle continues.
With retirement I have the time to do and think more for my children. Working life took away a lot of the growing years of my daughters, from me. Now I try to see how I can closely watch and enjoy the further growth of my daughters, though I am in Bangalore, India, and they are in East coast of USA.
I have always believed that making maximun efforts on anything is my job, and results are best left for Santa Claus ! Waiting for 'results' was and still is exciting.

Your views on LIFE helped me glean and see Life better, in Perspective. My home minister also gives it her seal of approval & exclaimed: "He is so right!"
